CANOE HIRE ON THE ROYAL MILITARY CANAL
We are offering a “Try Canoe” afternoon on Saturday 17 November, canoes can be hired by the hour between 1-4pm.
HOW IT WORKS
Arrive at our canoe centre in Seabrook, Hythe where one of our friendly team will help you choose the right canoe. We issue you with a paddle and buoyancy aid and give you a safety briefing. The section of canal close the centre is an ideal spot to while away an hour or so on the water. If you are looking for a challenge, canoes can be paddled as far as the West Hythe Dam, although it will take an experienced paddler a good 5 hours there and back. For 2019 rentals, if you are part of a group and would like to start further up the canal we can provide a quote for transporting the canoes, staff availability permitting. All rentals finish at the centre.
WHAT EXPERIENCE DO I NEED
Canoeing on the Royal Military Canal is suitable for all levels of ability, most of our customers have either never canoed before or have tried it just a few times, and of course, you can return to build up confidence and ability and take on longer sections. If you’re wanting some coaching prior to hiring, we run Saturday morning group sessions at the centre with instructors all year round.
